Cruise control is one of those features that tends to disappear into the background until the day it refuses to turn on. The engine still runs well, the transmission shifts normally, and the vehicle may feel completely fine during everyday driving, yet the cruise indicator never activates, or the system cancels as soon as you try to set a speed.
That disconnect can make the problem seem mysterious. Cruise control depends on signals from several systems that also handle braking, engine management, stability control, and driver inputs.
